Bulgur Pilaf with Lentils

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup green lentils
  • 1.5 cups of bulgur for pilaf
  • 1 dry onion
  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • 2.5 cups hot water or broth
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste (optional)
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Chili pepper (optional)

Preparation:

  • Wash and boil the green lentils until soft and drain.
  • Heat the oil in a pot and fry the chopped onions. If you will use tomato paste, add and mix.
  • Put the bulgur in the pot and fry for a few minutes. Then add the boiled lentils.
  • Add hot water or broth. Add salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes.
  • Cover the lid and cook over low heat until the water is absorbed.
  • After cooking, add butter and leave it to infuse.
  • Stir and serve hot. You can add yogurt or pickles on the side.
